I think that in most cases, we need to not “become” creative but unblock our creativity, allow it to flow, as it’s simply a channel, a way of being that is always in us, and should be really natural to us.
So what would lead us to more creativity?
Journaling to these questions can help to open us new ideas and creative inspiration:
First of all, we’ll need pockets of time, so how can I make more space in my life for creative explorations? When will I start?
What did I absolutely love doing as a child that I stopped doing? How did I like to play and spend time? What would be similar to it now? Can I still go and play basketball? Or make animals from clay? Even if it seems silly now, doing this can be very nourishing for our “inner child” and can bring up lots of creativity. And it DOES NOT have to bring any reasonable results. Our awakened creativity and a beaming smile on our face is more than enough as a “result”.
What inspires me? Not only to create, but in life in general? How can I surround myself with more inspiration? For example, if nature inspires me, how can I change my mornings that I could go for walk, listening to birds chirping and maybe pick some interesting looking leaves or flowers? If I know I get inspired by people who dare to try new, inspiring things in life- can I listen to one TED talk a week or go to a local Meetup for entrepreneurs?
If I would choose an hour of uninterrupted time, put on a music that makes me happy and explore something creative- how would I like to spend that hour? Re-arranging my home? Painting? Buying or picking flowers for my home? Solving Sudoku? Trying our new outfit combinations?
What would be silly, fun, weird, crazy but is something that I always wanted to try? Can I commit to trying/doing one such thing a week/a month? Coloring my hair in a new color, trying paintball or rock climbing with friends if usually we’re always just sitting and talking, starting a 30 days challenge to create videos?
What we’re doing here is moving our stagnant ways of being, and moving our energy. The less rigid we are in our ways of being, the more spontaneous, creative, in the flow we’ll become (and the more alive we’ll feel, trust me). We do not have to start a traditional artistic hobby to be more creative, our whole life is a creative expression, from the way we dress to the way we give gifts to the way we spend our free time. So what would be fun and unexpected for you? Do more of that, allow yourself the freedom to play and explore your unexplored sides.
Much love,
Lina
